Wednesday Anime Post

November 5th, 2009

it’s not a big anime day, but.

11eyes Episode 05 — SAME OLD THING! It’s always the same thing every episode! Protagonist asks Kusakabe-senpai to teach him how to fight, Kusakabe-senpai pwns him and tells him why he sukz, then the Red Night strikes (shatters, would be a better word) and they get attacked, and then all the other characters come and save everybody.

Also, Protagonist and Yuuka NEVER do anything. They SUCK at fighting, they SUCK at everything else too.

This episode, the Protagonist actually did something, actually. It was kind of lame. The eye thing isn’t nearly as cool as Geass. His “power” is so lame compared to the minor characters’. Also, I’m glad we finally “met” Kukuri-san. Just for her, this ep gets an AAA. [8/10]

I LOVE, I absolutely LOVE complex, ingenious plots. However… this one isn’t going anywhere.

テガミバチ / Tegami Bachi Episode 02 — You’d be surprised at how deep the themes are, but the actual anime is really boring. Basically, last episode they spent the whole episode doing stupid things, and it was lame, and all. The “world” of Tegami Bachi is so grey, so dark, and so empty. It pisses me off and bores me at the same time.

I swear...

I swear...

That little kid is an idiot. Actually, Gauche is an idiot too. Even the dog is an idiot, I think. The monsters are stupid and idiotic. What the hell is with the lame gun? Who the hell would watch this crap?

Don’t you think “Lag” is an awfully weird thing to name a kid? What’s gonna happen when he grows up and starts playing MMOs? Everybody’s gonna blame him when they die! >.<

What’s with the konpei floating around when it becomes a flashback scene? Also, how the hell is Lag connected to Gauche’s imouto, Sylvette?

Okay, I admit that scene kind of touched me. Still lame though.

“To… mo… dachi… ?”

Lol.

He needs to work on his character appeal.

He needs to work on his character appeal.

Later:

You are no longer a letter… YOU ARE A MAN NOW!!

I still don’t like, though.

*** final minute of episode ***

wtf “five years later”?? Wow… so basically the first 2 episodes were just a huge long prologue? Wow… hopefully the “real” anime is non-sucky.

The ED isn’t bad. Intro is not interesting, though. Also, this anime needs more FEMALE CHARACTERS. Basically (and I said this in last review too) there are only TWO characters in Tegami Bachi so far. ONLY TWO CHARACTERS…

Well, for now, this is a B. [5/10]. I am anticipating it becoming epic in the next few “real” episodes. Oh, and it seems there’s an OVA that came out before the anime, I’ll need to watch that too.

テガミバチ~光と青の幻想夜話~ / Letter Bee OVA ~light and blue night fantasy~— asdf

“This is the land of Amberground, where night never ends.”

That explains why it’s so depressing, ne?

Too many weird animals in this anime.

Too many weird animals in this anime.

This is pretty cute. The bouncy-girl is a welcome addition. And lol, I guess I messed up the episode order by watching this… but whatever. Niche is rather posessive of Lag. They’d make a great pairing. Why does she keep talking about steak?

If only real-life mailmen were this cool.

Lol, they’re using “flashbacks” to scenes that haven’t occurred yet (in real life time), but were in the past (in the anime’s timeline).

The flashbacks are boorriinnggg mee…

The “Goodbye, Gauche…” scene was a failed attempt to be emotionally touching.

Niche’s special powers are totally copied from Yami (ToLOVE-ru) >< the blondeness, and the hair-as-weapon deal… It’s still pretty cool though.

The final part of the episode… that was a really sad flashback…

Did she really die? And wow, he (it?) was always waiting for her… that’s just… so sad…

And… oh… so that’s why… he did that… he loved Elena 10 years ago or whatever… this is just a sad anime.

What’s with the happy ending music? It sounds… like something that would be from a Zelda game or something. Anyways, this ended up really touching. If every episode is this good, this anime’s all set for an S ranking from me. This OVA gets an AAA from me. [8/10]

Mini Anime Update

October 13th, 2009

テガミバチ / Tegami Bachi / Letter Bee

The intro, outro, animation quality, and voice acting really make me want to say this is a good anime.

… Unfortunately, the first episode was unarguably boring, pointless, and worthless. I can’t believe I wasted 30 minutes watching this episode.

The entire anime only has two characters so far (three… if you count the dog…), and neither of them seem to have any character depth. Neither of them is relatable, and the setting is rather depressing. An apocalyptic world. Mail couriers called Letter Bees that carry mail throughout various small settlements. Dangerous, horrible scary monsters terrorize the area between civilizations. There are no conventional weapons that can kill the monsters, not even bullets can harm them. The Letter Bees use special spiritual weapons to kill them. Gauche (one of the two characters) is a Letter Bee, and he uses a special gun to fire pieces of his heart, killing the monsters. Of course, once he shoots out all of his heart, he will cease to exist.

I don’t know, this kind of plot could be interesting. Maybe if a Gurren Lagann aspect was added to it, or something. The first episode was only depressing and boring, however, and carried no emotional meaning whatsoever to me. D.

Queen’s Blade – W. T. F. IS. WITH. THIS. ANIME!?!?!? F-.

*~*~*~*

Older things like Sora no Manimani are still better than these (there’s a reason I watched them last). I won’t continue most of the ones under B or so.

Anime update (ignore this if you don’t care)

October 13th, 2009

So, anime post for today. I’m separating “life” and “anime” since… yeah.

乃木坂春香の秘密: ぷれっざ / Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu 2: Purezza – The original anime was pretty funny at times, but the romance was just annoying. Well, I have to say, the second season started out really sucky. This episode sucked, except the like two scenes where Mika appeared.

I guess, basically, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu is a sucky show. Tsk, I had high expectations for both seasons. Cool OP sequence though.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 02 – WOW! AWESOME! Seriously. This show jumped to a new high with episode 02. It’s not exactly a romance, not exactly a harem show either. It’s not a romance-drama show, nor is it a tragedy. It is a comedy, but then again not a romantic comedy. It’s not exactly Lucky Star-style humor either. What is it then?

Sora no Otoshimono characters, as introduced in episode 2.

Sora no Otoshimono characters, as introduced in episode 2.

Sora no Otoshimono seems to be a rather unique anime. Initially, I compared the first episode to ToLOVEる (ToLOVE-ru), but that doesn’t quite match either. Sora no Otoshimono has a unique animation style, and the way each episodic storyline is presented is quite pleasing. The series also appears to have a major plot that looks exciting.

The premise itself is not entirely unique. A girl falls from the sky. Great. The unique character in this anime is the protagonist. I have already explained this in my review of the first episode, but the protagonist’s childish perspective gives this anime a fun-filled atmosphere. It really brings a smile to your face. If you maybe… ignore the panties flying left and right. Yeah. That.

フェアリーテイル / Fairy Tail – First thoughts on episode 01. “THIS IS TOTALLY MABINOGI.” Actually, before that, “This OP is totally lame.” If you care, the third thought was “Oh hey, that weird plushie/animal/thing is voiced by Rie Kugumiya!”

Okay, the character designs are totally lame. Everybody looks ugly, even the lead females.

Hm, this scene reminds me of a scene in Zero no Tsukaima. You know what, this whole ANIME reminds me of Zero no Tsukaima.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m watching AND posting at the same time. So that’s why I’m not tying in well-formed paragraphs. This section will sound rather similar to an IM convo.

… the only good thing about this anime so far is Rie-san’s voice. WTF… the cat… doll… thingy is named “Happy”?

Hmm, so the lead girl’s name is Lucy? I don’t like that name. My mom’s former boss was named Lucy.

Ugh, this anime is getting lamer by the second. It also gives off that “American cartoon” feel that I hate.

Hmm, the cat-plushie thing is kinda cute. Kinda. I mean, at least it’s better than, say, FMP’s fumoffu thingy.

… okay. Halfway point. Plot got interesting. Hold on, lemme watch some more.

… why can the cat fly? …

Hm, the lead male is kind of cool. Maaybee… like, Touma-level cool.

Cool magic circles. Not nanoha-level cool, but they look okay. Magic is lame though. Like… firebolt-level lame. Ugh.

Lol… that scene was pretty funny. Score up.

Woah… now that was cool.

… okay, that was cool for about 2 minutes. Fight scene is dragging on too long. Score down.

… that was pretty cool. PWNT!

Wow, the ED is pretty cute. Score up.

Overall… feels like Zero no Tsukaima plus maybe some Shana and totally Mabinogi/ZnT setting. Girl looks like… I don’t know, but she’s not really a unique design. Male protagonist is a Touma, except he talks less and beats people up a bit more. Score of… I don’t know, C or a B. I’ll just go ahead and go with a B.

君に届け / Kimi ni TodokeProduction I.G. – OP wasn’t anything special, but I liked it.

Lead female has a beautiful voice, lemme try to recognize. Um… Mamiko Noto? *checks ANN*

Yup, she’s voiced by Mamiko Noto, and the lead male is Daisuke-kun (voiced Fai from Tsubasa).

Wow, this starts off interesting. As expected of I.G., capture our curiosities from the start.

You know… maybe people would like you more if you SMILED? Lol, she’s having social troubles. If she was a bit prettier, I’d want to give her a hug.

You know, she is pretty. When she smiles. Wait, she doesn’t.

Oh my god, the lead male is so sweet. Ugh… (sorry for sounding like a fangirl for a moment)

…. WOOOW she is a SOCIAL FAILURE. These scenes are scaring me.

Hm, this is totally an anime for girls to watch. It’s not really interesting to me.

Well, actually, the lead male is a good role model for all of us to follow. It’s boring, but watch it, Hanchan. Maybe if you act like him, girls will be swarming around you like wasps.

Like with Fairy Tail, I’ll watch and type at the same type. Multitasking, Rank UP!

Hm, all the female characters are drawn horribly. The lead male is SO HANDSOME though!

You know, this doesn’t feel like a Mamiko Noto character. You would expect somebody more like Nogizaka Haruka, or (Itadaki no Kura) Hecate-sama.

Hm, I’m starting to hate the lead female. The lead male deserves someone better. He’s so handsome @_@

Ugh, it’s so obvious they’re in love with each other, I hate it.

… what the hell? Suddenly at the end of the episode she becomes socially adept?

Ughhh, this is so girly sweet… I can’t stand this.

Damn, this failed my expectations. Which were probably incorrect expectations in the first place, because this is a girls’ anime. D+ or C.

Great outro song. Who’s the singer, I wonder.

Animes I’m not going to watch this season:

Sasameki Koto – it’s yuri, so obviously not. Sounds like a copy of Maria-sama, anyways.

Miracle Train – I hear it’s gay. No, literally. Gay. Homosexual. As in, guys loving guys.

Armed Librarians: The Book of Bantorra – ……………….. lol, assumption: “WTF is this an anime about librarians-turned bounty hunters that are sent out to assassinate people holding overdue books?”

That might actually have been more interesting than this. Okay, first line of summary… “dead people turn into books.” Not watching.

Yumeiro Patissiere – Kill me.

Animes I might watch:

Queen’s Blade – dunno what this is, sounds lame, but I haven’t heard anything bad about it. Actually I haven’t heard anything about it at all.

Tegami Bachi / Letter Bee – going to watch this. Wikipedia’s summary sounds interesting. Sounds… Gurren Lagann? first anime that comes to mind. The name is cool, at least.

The Sacred Blacksmith – I’ve been commenting on how stupid the name was since summer, but I might give it a watch.

Asura Cryin’ 2nd Season – first things first.

Natsu no Arashi! Akanai-chuu – first season first.

Darker than BLACK 2nd Season – I’ve heard great things about the first season. First things first, of course.

Needless – a summer09 anime, might start it.

Inuyasha: The Final Act – … not that Inuyasha needs any more episodes in the first place, but maybe this will be better (it is a climax to a huge series, after all).
