The Organized Blog Post of Sunday, October 24/29th, 2010

Tagline: “Efficiency — a month of blogging in a single post!”

Blog

So Tim commented on this post from over a year ago, which sent me an email alert reminding me of the existence of my blog. From there I wandered into this post. Among all the other amazing posts from a year ago that stemmed from my illustrious genius (sarcasm).

I wish I could return to my prolific blogging habits from my sophomore year. It felt really good to bring out my thoughts, and at the end of the day, it gave me a feeling of having contributed to society — a feeling of general productivity, I suppose, which I can’t attain from games or anime or television.

As I return to this half-completed post, two days ago I got my computer infected with a virus (I knoww! ME, the total computer geek, with a virus?!), and life has generally been sucking. Well, that’s to be expected. Perspective, Ben, perspective. Your life rocks.

Anime Music

I have had no time for anime. And although this Fall 2010 season is a major exception, modern anime has been uninteresting for the most part. And of course the one interesting anime season would happen when I’m at the busiest point in my life. Tsk.

That was my short two-line spiel on anime. I won’t bother going into more detail (no time + no interest). However… anime music lately has been beyond awesome. Faylan’s last vision for last (if you remember, they did the remarkable OP for CANAAN a few seasons ago) is number one here. I was immediately obsessed with the TV-size version; however, upon hearing the full version it didn’t seem that great anymore. It is still a good song, nevertheless. My favorite part is when all the drums, guitars, etc all die out and leave just the piano and her singing. Maybe the animation that accompanied the song in Hyakka Ryouran was the reason for this.

Speaking of opening sequences, the opening of Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai / The World Only God Knows is the best this season. I usually hate english lyriced songs, but everything just fits together so perfectly in that intro sequence. I especially like the logo at the end, where the kanji “kami” (god) does that uhh weird thing (sry for dropping out of ap english o_O).

I also like irony by ClariS, from Ore no Imouto ga Konna Kawaii Wake ga Nai (the anime about Tim and Dorothy’s daily life). I can’t quite put my finger on what I like about the song. It’s cheerful, both in melody and in lyric, and somehow deep (even without trying to interpret the lyrics into native byte-code). I really love the name. It’s not very often that Japanese artists name their songs well (SERIOUSLY. UGH. one of my biggest gripes with asian music.) so it’s nice to see a short, sweet name for this just-as-sweet song. I feel like translating the lyrics for this song (but it’s probably already been done twice overby Words of Songs lol).

eufonius’s new song for Yosuga no Sora is nice, but it’s too similar to all of their previous works (Apocrypha, Mag Mell come to mind, along with the ef songs). They use the same instrumentation on all of their songs, and the same melodic phrases/chord progressions. The original conception was brilliant, but repeating the same formula over and over again wins them no points in my book.

New Fairy Tail songs are okay, but I’m saddened at the removal of Mikuni Shimokawa’s outro song. Sora no Otoshimono‘s opening isn’t as catchy as ring my bell, but I remember it was okay (can’t remember anything about the actual song).

I am very dissappointed in To Aru Majutsu no Index II ‘s music. I was looking forward to an outro song bu IKU more than I was looking forward to the actual anime. I’m saying that seriously. The OP by, whoever it’s by, was nothing special either. I guess I was impressed by the content of the actual anime, though. Since I read the novel, and know what will happen, I’m actually more excited after each cliffhanger/episode.

I know there are many brilliant animes this season, but I am already being crushed by what I have on my watchlist right now, so I will put most of this season off until last year. Yes, that includes Bakuman.

Life

Website

I’m thinking of moving the leafwood.net servers off of my home network. First of all, bandwidth and cpu/disk access from site visitors often hinders my normal computer usage. It’s annoying when suddenly the computer freezes up while I just had a good idea for my english paper, et cetera. Next, I would like to reduce the power consumption of my computer and increase its operating lifetime by not keeping it on overnight or while I am at school. Seriously, my computer is pretty new, and it already feels like it’s five years old. Things are breaking and crashing every other day. Finally, a dedicated server would provide faster access/ping times and high speed bandwidth, which would be nice to have in case we ever need to upload, say, large music files or video files (e.g. for songwriting or moviemaking).

I’m not quite sure how I’d pay for the server usage though. I would ideally want a package at less than ten dollars a year. I don’t need much bandwidth, and PHP and MySQL are pretty much the only server features I need. I wouldn’t even really need SSH access (although it would be nice). Any donation offers? :D

Other Music
so touhou

I can’t frick-ing (LOL Frick… sry inside joke) get enough of Touhou music. It started from a random post on an anime blog with a random link to a lame Touhou fan video (it was a parody stand-up comedy thing… very wtf weird). And then I heard the ending song at the end of the video, and it was all downhill from there~

One gripe is that not all Touhou music is equally good. In fact, most songs suck incredibly. But it’s very fun picking out the awesome ones and listening to them on repeat for five hours.

The Touhou characters and the setting of Gensokyo is also extremely compelling. I read one of the mangas, Silent Sinner in Blue in one night. Well, it was short. But I’m amazed at Touhou, and more amazed at Japan and its Touhou fans that have brought the game to such international fame.

I know this post was a bunch of meaningless crap. And I still posted it like four days late. Good thing all anime-containing posts are hidden from the front page o_O

Fall 2009 Anime Finale Week

December 30th, 2009

I’m putting a cut on my anime posts now. I am going to split about half the episodes above the cut, half below. Oh, and this week is FINAL CONCLUDING EPISODES for most Fall 2009 animes… yes, Christmas, my B-day, and end of Fall 09, all in one week. Much too much drama.

Fairy Tail Episode 11 – It’s gettin’ interesting again. This anime is continuing into Winter 2010, so too bad; one-liner review. AAA. [8/10]

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 12 FINAL — Last time: Mafuyu confesses her love; insert astonishment. Typical student council affairs, the topic shifts to everybody’s dreams for the future — what they want to become when they grow up (think Shugo Chara). Random comments ensue on how this is the last episode of Seitokai and nobody is doing anything meaningful. Suddenly a random character from Mafuyu’s BL (translation: Japanese gay male+male love manga/novel/story) shows up. Seitokai-ness ensues. After that, Sugisaki randomly goes into a meaningful dialogue about life, the meaning of strength, and makes tear-jerking references to his past and other interesting plot details that haven’t been revealed to us yet, even in the final episode. And then he finds the gang eavesdropping on him, and the delicate plot dissolves into more Seitokai no Ichizon wackiness. SS. [10/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 13 — This was a meaningless episode. B. [5/10]

Negima (original; winter 2005) — Yeah, I finished Negima, and since I included a random screenshot from Negima, I thought I might as well say something about it. Hm, it started off like Pani Poni Dash! with a male teacher who was secretly a magician, in place of Becky. Oh, and the 31 female students in his class are all in love with him. By the way, have I mentioned: Negi-sensei, aforementioned teacher, is only 10 years old? (9, if you don’t round up…)

Negima is one whacked-up anime. The ending was the most bizzare chain of events I have ever witnessed in an anime. (If you didn’t think the body of the anime wasn’t bizzare enough.) So like, randomly, in an admittingly well-done sequence beautifully displaying her inner feelings (I liked the usage of the sound of a bell), um… the lead female dies. Now of course, you expect this to be like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Negi-sensei grows up and saves the universe and blah, right? But no… all of a sudden Negi’s students have a time travel machine… and then they travel into the past… oh, and he just happens to run into his dad, who… dies… and, um… they fight with demons… in plain sight of human civilization… and then all 31 or whatever of Negi’s students kiss him and are suddenly transformed into mahou shoujos and pwn some weird demon lord. And somehow all the conflicts are resolved… and… ugh. It was so bizzare, the bizzarity counts as entertainment, I suppose.

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 10 — I’ve run out of things to say. Last 3 episodes of 2nd season of Koihime Musou; I hear a 3rd season has already been announced for, what, Spring 2010?
Introducing… Houtou-chan, a character who is even more loli than Shuri! She is another orphan who becomes Shuri’s “little sister” in this episode. Oh, meanwhile, Ryuubi feeds Kan’u, Chouhi is jealous, etc, etc.
This is a really sweet episode. I like the hat. S. [9/10]

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 11 — They put so much money into the artwork for this anime… if only they put as much work into the storywriting.
Bachou’s cousin appears. Is it just me, or is every anime this season referencing that scene from SoraOto‘s first episode? The jokes aren’t really that funny. Anymore. Somehow they make the Yellow Turban Rebellion into some weird J-pop idol group’s fanclub. This is kind of… a twist.
Next episode: “The Generals Attempt to Suppress the Yellow Turban Rebellion”. I wish this was as serious as the titles make it sound.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 12 — I like how the writers for SoraOto always fail to explain how anything they write is relevant.
Is Tomoki trying to imitate Battler? Sohara is still the best female. Hm, the format of this is starting to resemble Seitokai. Oh, and we randomly go back into Serious Mode. Nymph and Tomoki actually make a pretty perfect pair. (Sohara is still better, but.) Lol, Ikaros gets jealous of Tomoki+Nymph. As for Nymph’s monologue to Ikaros… what, is she writing an analytical essay on the symbolism prevalent inside a zoo?
Once again, it’s World vs. Tomoki; very well-done zoo scene. The humor is, as usual, way past excellent. I do think the moments that are supposed to be “touching” still come out as lame. Wahh, Nymph, don’t die! AAA. [8/10]

God… this episode’s outro is really good. Rating up. I’m too lazy to change it, so pretend I wrote AAA+ up there.

空の女王 / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 13 FINAL — Being the final episode, they finally decided to add kanji to the title.

Anything I say at this point won’t really mean anything, so I’ll save the overanalysis for whenever I feel like writing an overanalysis post about SoraOto.

Summary: Nymph is tricked into plotting against Ikaros. Meanwhile, everybody is preparing for the big Christmas party. Ikaros makes her love confession. The rest is so teary I’ll leave it with “WATCH THIS”.

The whole Ikaros battle is kind of like… why don’t you just use Aegis and blow up everybody within a 10km radius? Geez >_<; god, though, the animation is so amazing. The “oh we’re friends” thing with Nymph is just too cheesy, though.

Still though, the… ship… weapon… cannon… thing. Ugh, I can’t get enough of that awesome 3-D animation. (Much better than what Disney/Pixar churns out every month.) SSS. [11/10]

Wow this turned out long. ゴメン~

Cuuuuut. *snip*

First Anime Post of Winter Break

December 20th, 2009

Cheers.

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 11 — Sugisaki is sick with a fever, and the Hekiyou Acadamy Student Council is abnormally normal. No hilarity ensues.

I was originally going to use only that one line as a summary, but the ending… oh my god, Mafuyu confessed… SS. [10/10]

Lots of screenshots, see bottom post. This is the second-to-last episode of Seitokai no Ichizon.

にゃんこい! / Nyan Koi! Episode 12 — Mizuno has gotten suspicious of Junpei’s curse, causing it to progress further. Eventually, he completely becomes a cat, and in a somewhat anti-climactic climax, he finally resolves his curse. That still doesn’t mean all’s well ends well for Junpei… teehee. S. [9/10]

Screenshots are at bottom, again. This was the final episode of Nyan Koi!.

うみねこのく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 24 — lolwut. D. [3/10]

Also, what happened to the random Ange-1998 flashbacks? What happened to the stupendous surprises I expected this episode, being near the end of this season? Disappointed.

Fairy Tail Episode 10 — This was just weird. C. [4/10]

What the heck happened to the plot-driven suspense and humor that made me begin to respect this anime? Disappointed.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 11 — I’m still obsessed with ring my bell every time I hear it.

I am now of the opinion that Sora no Otoshimono would be better without the angels. Sora no Otoshimono would then become a normal school non-harem comedy with Sohara and Tomoki.

There is something between modern Japanese society and the idea of transgenderism. With that being said, this episode Tomoki becomes a girl. Now, I could write a whole essay-length analysis on boy-girl slash transexual characters in Japanese anime… Ranma 1/2‘s aquatransgender titular character Saotome Ranma being the prime example, with things like Kampfer, one of the ToLOVE-ru OVAs, and similar… but I happen to have an English essay to write so let’s save that prompt for another rainy day.

Putting all that aside, this episode contains typical Otoshimono semi-sexual fractured humor-parody-eyecandy. Uwahahaha. This episode’s theme, I approve. Actually… nevermind. I don’t approve, but it’s still funny. And Tomo-chan got what he deserved.

Sora no Otoshimono kind of fails (epicly) at being touching, though. Oh… well.

This is the… actually, I don’t know. Surprisingly, for writing such a long review, no screenshots were taken. It’s always hard rating Sora no Otoshimono because it’s both “oh god this is epic high quality masterpiece art” and “wtf is this messed-up deranged shit” at the same time. S+. [9.5/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 12 — End-of-arc episode; the fetus born from Kiyama-sensei is shown to be the collective conglomerate of the desperate thoughts of 3,000 depressed, defeated, and downright deficient students. Misaka fights this fetus, Antiskill actually does something (first time in the entire To Aru series! omg!), and the 3,000 students are saved… or are they? They may have risen from their comas, but they are still plagued by the troubles that guided them along said path in the first place, and as Misaka is wondering about this after she shows the audience how overpowered she is in a not-really-epic battle where Touma is decidedly missing, Kuroko jumps her, and all is normal again. Meanwhile, Saten and Uiharu have their reunion.

This is a 26-episode anime, so we’re almost halfway through. I can’t believe they took twelve episodes to do one not-so-amazing arc. (It might have been amazing if Touma had shown up, or if Kiyama-sensei was able to save those children in the end.) In Index, each arc was maybe three to six episodes at max, and although there were a mix of good and not-so-good arcs, they generally had perfect flow, no fillers or anything of the sort. Next episode of Railgun looks like a filler. Anyhow, hopefully the next story arc will feature Touma and Misaka in some heart-wrenching fantastically clever scenario, like we have come to expect from To Aru Majutsu no Index.

THERE! A PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING REVIEW! For once. Anyways, rating. S+. [9.5/10]

Kämpfer

Episodes: 12 / Studio: Nomad / TBS
Light Novel Adaptation / Author: Toshihiko Tsukiji
Wiki / ANN

Humor <2/5> | Plot <0/5>
Characters <0/2> | Art <1.5/2>
Music <1/2> | Mood/Tone <-1/2>
Dialogue <-0.5/2> == Total «3/20»

Ouuchh.

Kämpfer Episode 12 FINAL — I find it amusing how much this anime sucked.

Episode rating: Worst episode ever, of the worst anime ever this season. F. [2/10]

Final rating – [Kämpfer]: There wasn’t even a goddamn CONCLUSION. To ANYTHING. This anime, as a whole, gets an F [2/10]. Actually, maybe it even deserves lower. I’ll write a whole long freakin’ review-essay on it later when I feel like it.

Anyways, here are your screenshots.

Somehow a random Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo screenshot got in there. That school uniform is sexy.

Long Long Anime Post to Make Up For Whatever

December 9th, 2009

I have nothing entertaining to say here.

[1555 words.]

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 09 — No intro song? Interesting, what’s going on with Nymph and Synapse. As usual, Eishirou’s entertaining monologues are both insightful and idiotic.

Tomo-chan gets drunk off soda, Sohara is still my favorite character, and Nymph is back. Well, of course.

Nymph fails at being evil, and Tomoki hits on her because Ikaros fails at pretending to be human.

This anime still has the BEST CHARACTER ANIMATION EVER. Even without any story or joking, the art is HILARIOUS by itself.

WTFLOL (and even a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann ref~)

It’s still obscene and kind of random, but it’s good where it counts. And yeah, good job kidnapping Tomoki, you just ended up falling more in love with him.

And why does Ikaros randomly kiss Tomoki out of the blue. That sucked… I want it to be some epic climax where they kiss, not a totally random scene at the end of the anime. However, the ED makes up for it, so great. Great new song, as usual.

S. [9/10]

If there were less naked people, this would’ve been a 10/10. You can tell a -lot- of work goes into the making of each episode of this anime, which is why I really enjoy most episodes of Sora no Otoshimono.

Kampfer Episode 09 — This anime has gotta be one of the worst this season (although others seem to think it’s the best). To tell the truth, when Fall 2009 first began, Kampfer was at the top of my list. However, it’s a) not funny b) not touching c) not cute d) not a unique story e) not unique in ANY way actually. Also, a) every single girl AND BOY is in love with Natsuru, b) Natsuru is a total idiot, c) what the hell is going on with the plot anyways?

The voice actor jokes used to be funny, but now they’re just stupid. There are new characters every episode, all of them are so dumb it hurts to watch Kampfer now. I don’t get how Sakura is secretly evil suddenly. I don’t get how everybody is too dumb to realize anything. I don’t get the lame mind control. It’s so lamee it hurts.

Okay, this just went over the “T” rated-level. Why is this being shown on public television again?

Eh, this episode actually thickened the plot, so it wasn’t as horrible as usual. A+. [6.5/10]

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 09 — Enshou (or whatever her name was)’s attendant looks like a flight attendant. x3

A public service announcement from Shuri: Be careful of lightning on cloudy days!

Hm, I’m pretty sure that  in Ancient China people didn’t wear swimsuits around everyday so casually. Still, though, with the censoring. If you’re going to show naked girls doing obscene things (which I would rather not see in the first place), why are you then censoring it? o-o

This ep was pretty deep for a Koihime ep. Usually it’s just *naked girls bath scene*, and then *clothes get ripped of in random battle*, and then some corny line that was supposed to be touching in some irrelevant way. AAA+. [8.5/10]

Next ep is Shuri and her new side-character.

にゃんこい! / Nyan Koi! Episode 09 — Wow, I’m two episodes behind on this.

I love this anime, because I like every character — Junpei, Kaede (lol, love interest in Kampfer is also named Kaede), Nagi, Imouto, twins, and even the cats. The humor is of a different nature than Seitokai, so that’s why it’s also in my top 3 Most-Looked-Forward-To list (see below).

And the twins (“tsu-ins”, more like — yay, I made a Japanese pun!). And then Nagi makes a stunning dramatic appearance XD. And then the random mailwoman makes her random appearance. And Junpei is in a swimming pool with 6 fantastic girls that are all in love with him. What would you do in this situation? ^-^

The 2nd half of the episode is focused on Sumiyoshi-san. Who is not my favorite character, by the way.

And it’s hilarious how Imouto and Mom try to track down all detective-like how many/which girls visited Junpei ><

Woah, next episode is on the twins. SS, for the first half, but since I don’t like Sumiyoshi-san, S. [9/10]

にゃんこい! / Nyan Koi! Episode 10 — The pre-opening scene… was that a parody of something, or was it “real”? I can totally see the twins as magical girls >.<

See, another thing I like about Nyan Koi! are the little jokes — the things you don’t always notice, but when you do, are so hilarious. It’s one of those things, where somebody puts a heck of a lot of effort into something, but only a few people ever notice, and even fewer convey their appreciation to that somebody. To refrain from quoting Holden, I’ll just say, “That’s so depressing.”

… magical girl transformation scenes, check. Spirits, check. Magical powers, check. Nyan Koi! has now become magical-girl Bakemonogatari or something. XD

This is so… um… it’s so hilarious and odd, it’s not even comment-able. AND THEN THE MAILMAN APPEARS ahahahaha!

Kyaah, this anime is really just too cute and hilarious for me to give it anything less than an S. By the way, S. [9/10]

こばと。 / Kobato Episode 08 — Kitten… Fall 2009 has too much about cats. And I agree, “Milk” is totally a cute name for a cat~

Fujimoto is so depressing. Everything else is so cheerful, but Fujimoto makes this so depressing, he counteracts the entire rest of the cast.

“I think… the kitten reminded him of himself.” Great, now let’s go into a Catcher in the Rye-esque analysis of all the symbols in this episode. =_=

*kitten clutches at chest… oh wait, Kobato doesn’t have breasts*

Wow, last episode’s Character of the Day actually reappeared. :O And are Chiho+Chise going to become main characters? Looks like this is gonna be like Chobits 2. XD

And yeah… give her your phone number. =_= Kobato is too dumb for anything. Also, in Chobits wasn’t Chitose some super-genius? Wonder if she also has her secret lab like in Chobits ><

Wow, the nice lady waaay back from Episode 1 reappears to take in the kitten… and wow, Fujimoto-san is so secretly nice. Sigh, what a nice conclusion.

And so, the episode ends happily ever after in typical CLAMP style. S. [9/10]

Aand… Kobato sings~~ It’s an epic song, and the accompaniment animation makes it even more dramatic. I’m surprised this is only the 2nd time she’s sung in 8 episodes.

Anyways, this was as sweet as any CLAMP episode ever was. Great ep.

フェアリーテイル/ Fairy Tail Episode 09When the most intelligent character in an anime is a winged cat, you know said anime will be entertaining.

This next episode was great as well; I see Fairy Tail is getting better every ep. S. [9/10]

Whoa, next episode is Natsu VS Erza.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 10 — Yeah, ep 10 came out by the time I got here.

Complaint #1: Everybody’s breasts are too big. I have a problem with that.

Episode title: “天使の旋律(ことば)の向かう先”, “Tenshi no Senritsu (Kotoba) no Mukau Saki”, with “kotoba” being the furigana/ruby for “senritsu”. Basically, it would be translated as “Where the Melodies (Words) of Angels Go”. “Senritsu”, read in Chinese as “xuan2 lü4”, means melody, and the act of placing “kotoba” — words — above the kanji for melodies is another example of this extremely interesting technique of Japanese writers. See, episode titles are always so entertaining and educational.

“Forming a band”? Cough… K-On!… and yeah, I see how the title relates now ^_^; and raise your hand if you want a childhood friend like Sohara-san for a waifu.

Wow… poor Nymph… this is just sad >.<; isn’t that child abuse?

Wow, Sorami Acadamy’s orchestra is TINY. And they play music that we could play in 6th grade. At least the Sora no Otoshimono animators can draw violins correctly… cough at Shugo Chara!.

Ikaro’s singing is great. No complaints. That was completely totally sweet. It was like, Kobato-type sweet. Wow, the ending animation this episode is bloopers of scenes that were already funny. Not that interesting, they run out of ideas pretty soon for funny things to do to random scenes. And great, now everybody is getting drunk on orange juice this episode. =D; S. [9/10]

こばと。 / Kobato Episode 09 — Aaand a new Kobato ep is out. Silly Kobato-chan. The “healing peoples’ feelings” thing has like 99% similarity to ×××HoLiC. Kobato has a random habit of announcing her intentions to the camera.

Also, normally, would you tell a random girl you just met on the street everything about your personal life and all your secret feelings and thought? No? I thought not. See, that’s the main logical issue with Kobato.

Technically… Kobato is… stalking these people… you know? I know she’s trying to heal their hearts and blah, buut… borderline obsession xD

Also, how come every time somebody is troubled in this anime, they sit on the same goddamn swing set?

Uwahh… this turned out soooo sweet~~! It’s almost sickeningly sweet, except CLAMP knows what variables to manipulate to make it just “sweet”. AAA. [8/10]

“Anime I Look Forward to the Most Each Week”:

Rank Name
(1) To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
Nyan Koi!
Seitokai no Ichizon
(2) Fairy Tail
Sora no Otoshimono
(3) Shin Koihime Musou
Umineko no Naku Koro ni

These are kinda-maybe-not-really in order.

Shots from this post follow.

[そらのおとしみの] Sora no Otoshimono -08-

November 24th, 2009

そらのおとしみの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 08

THIS IS WAR!!

Right, so this round of Sora no Otoshimono is a Battle Royale-style cork gun shootout.

“The Satsukitane family has organized a all-ages family fun event in order to promote the unity of our delightful town. All participants from young to old will be provided with non-lethal arms and munitions, and everybody is to mow each other down cheerfully, with these guns that just happen to look like AK-47 assault rifles. Everybody please come participate in this fun, safe community activity!”

Armed with his M16, Eishirou-kun helps snipe down the mob of vegetable ladies, fishmongers, and female classmates after Sakurai-kun, our popular protagonist. Don’t worry — “You’re loved, Sakurai-kun.”

Meanwhile, the Apocalypse arrives. Luckily for the world, Sakurai-kun tells her to go away.

Meanwhile meanwhile, Nymph is out and about being secretly evil again.

Wow, this is cool. So are they saying, like, Ikaros caused the downfall of the Roman Empire thousands of years ago or something?

And then she just starts crying. Nymph is so evil, she ends up being stupid. “I’ve got mud on my face! EWW! EWW! It’s so dirty!”

Wow, Ikaros is suddenly not an angelpet anymore. And Nymph leaves. Aww.

Meanwhile. Ahem.

“Oh, sorry, I had a real gun mixed in.”

Ending credits. Creative as usual. I don’t know why I took three shots of it.

And, as we conclude: Ikaros shows off her newfound ability to cry. Surprisingly sweet for a show as lacking in sanity as Sora no Otoshimono.

[そらのおとしもの] Sora no Otoshimono -07-

November 16th, 2009

Awesome ep, as usual. First some random stuff.

The “male” (lol) character songs from Haruhi2 will be out Wednesday. Of course, not that you’d really care much for Kyon’s singing, but.

Anyways… ささっと 始まれ!

♫ currently listening to: only my railgun – fripSide

Oh, yes, and the last Fall2009 OP I really really want is the Shin Koihime Musou intro. It’s better than flower of bravery, the 1st season OP, which was very high by my standards already. I like that kind of song, wonder if there’s a lot more of that kind of music that I just haven’t discovered yet.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono 第七話

This episode, in one sentence: Ikaros and Nymph go to school, and we discover that Nymph has some cool deep dark evil secret.

Sohara's imagination theatre.

Sohara's imagination theatre.

Sohara gets extremely flustered because Ikaros and Nymph are super-cute, super-smart, and super-popular.  Our Protagonist says outright that he doesn’t love either of the angels. That’s rare; usually in harem animes the protagonist is too scared/flustered/embarrassed/stupid to tell all or part of his harem that he doesn’t like them, or even more usually the protagonist just simply likes all of his girls.

今回、一文に: イカロスとニムフは学校に行く、それにニムフは なんだか秘密がある。

If this keeps up, Tomoki-kun is going to need mental rehabilitation.

If this keeps up, Tomoki-kun is going to need mental rehabilitation.

Aaand typical SoraOto things happen (yes very clever shortname).

One of the great things here is how every ep, and I mean every single one, has its own unique outro song. Most of them aren’t spectacular, though, so that’s a downer — I’d rather have one really awesome song (like an IKU song ^_^ *nudgenudge*).

"WTF"

"WTF"

So like… satirical emotional-scene-parodies later, after Tomoki’s class pressures him into jumping out of the second-story windowof the school building (or rather… it was more his own idiocy… and where’s Sohara here?), Tomoki is injured, in bed, and everything is as usual. Feels like Touma (chibi-ified).

"Do it, Tomoki! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!!"

"Do it, Tomoki! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!!"

Fast forward, and serious plot mode on. Why have the Angels been sent to Tomoki? Exactly what the hell is Synapse and the “world in the sky”? Since it looks like a landmass I can assume it’s not “heaven” heaven?

"I'm secretly evil, if you can't tell by this facial expression."

"I'm secretly evil, if you can't tell by this facial expression."

Uwahhh about Nymph.

今回の エンヂンッグテーム

今回の エンヂンッグテーム

By the way, Synapse is cool. Way better than “Easter” >____>; oh, Saint and Vesper from Mahoro are also good names for big, possibly-evil secret organizations.

Oh yeah, remember “Mithril”? FMP feels so long ago x_x or was it Mythril…

What other evil organization names? Oh, Hypnos from Digimon Tamers… that was a really great name. What was Shana‘s called? Those badguys were… um… umum… *wikis*

… half an hour later (read through the entire wiki Shana page again… it’s just so interesting ><) anyways, it was “Bal Masqué”. Specifically, Hecate+Sydonnay+Bel Peol are called the Trinity. Shana terminology is just so intriguing.

For general organization names… what was the Nanoha organization called? I can only remember the acronym, TSB… what was it, Transportation Safety Bureau? XD

Anywho, excellent ep. S… I hesitate to give S+. Let’s go with S+0.25. Ahaha. [9.25/10]

hum, nice day today. math team team tryouts were today. nothing much else.

Fairy Tail Episode 05

Lame as usual, but it’s still interesting enough to keep watching.

FairyTail05-1

I’m not even trying to understand the plot. Wait, what plot?

Guess what the Plot Device is named? “Lullaby”.

Well, there have been stupider names. See “Embryo” from Shugo Chara!, for the closest example I can think of.

Hm, well, new character. Nothing special, nothing cute, nothing epic, nothing awesome about this anime. Nothing horrible either, so it gets a B for this ep. [5/10]

Sora no Otoshimono Episode 06

This anime is getting TOO EPIC TO REVIEW.

(Actually more like I was just too lazy to screenshot and write analytical stuff about this episode.)

SS. [10/10]

can you hear my heart bell?

November 3rd, 2009
  • only my railgun and Ring My Bell both came out~! They’re both so epic.
Still waiting for Treasure, or whatever it was called, the Seitokai OP.
  • Hank is too Hank for his own good. Seriously.
  • Breakdown of my day:
    • English: We had a substitute… I’m saved from a possibly not-so-superb performance, but… idk, I even dressed up and all ><
(my tie was so cute… ;-;)
Oh, and today’s journal in English related a lot to yesterday’s post about Higurashi (being sinless is a sin in itself).
    • PE: I love how swimming’s over. Basketball is meh.
    • Orchestra 3: Meh.
    • Pre-Calculus: Meh. Substitute teacher today, I finished my English homework in class and then proceeded to finish all my math homework too. I love this class. I get a lot done.
Of course, there’s also good ol’ Hank making irrelevant background noise.
    • Mandarin 4: I believe I was freaking out about this on MSN yesterday, and then freaking out about it even more during lunch today. Yeah, so I have a speech presentation to do. Basically, we talk for two minutes about anything we want, and the teacher grades us on how well we speak.
      • This is the only class where you not only get away with bragging talking about yourself  — it’s required! The class is even forced to pay attention!
      • Lol, j/k… I guess. I ended up talking about myself and my family. It was pretty good, I guess. Too bad I wasn’t able to do my discrete mathematics/generating functions/linear algebra huge math lecture ><
    • AP Physics: Meh.
Physics Hero taught today’s lecture instead of Mr. Zhang. He’d make an awesome teacher; I look up to him as much as Bryan ^_^
  • I think this song is brainwashing me >.<
♪ i can hear my heart bell~ tomararenai yo! ♪
  • I can’t think of anything else for which blogging about would serve a particular purpose, so see you next time!

First Anime Post of the New Month

November 2nd, 2009

This Monday rocks.

Seiken no Blacksmith Episode 05 – getting boring… nothing new or epic has happened. The romantic tension between Cecily and Luke isn’t even funny or cute or interesting anymore. Also, about Cecily’s bust… it’s emphasized so much, it’s totally annoying.

Yeah, Luke must be a pedophile. Totally. Aria is cute still, but she still has that “new character” factor helping her out. Aria and Cecily are pushy ><

Luke is totally antisocial. He must be the best character in this anime. Also, is this episode going to be centered around Lisa trying out ten thousand different outfits? I mean, she’s cute but, hmm, I wonder about the LisaxLuke factor too.

And yeah, I forgot how to spell “Seiken no Blacksmith” in Japanese, so too bad. ^^

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 05 — This anime is so goddamn hilarious, it hurts.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 05 — Another freakin [11/10] SSS-rank episode from the guys at Sora no Otoshimono! This anime is, dare I say, funnier than Hayate. It might not be suitible for all ages, however — we see semi-nudity and a lot of panties.

I didn't feel like taking relevant screenshots today.

I didn't feel like taking relevant screenshots today.

This was so hilarious… just… watch it.

Like I said. SSS. [11/10] desu.

There’s still Fairy Tail and last week’s Nyan Koi! to watch and write about, but meh.
