Fall 2009 Anime Finale Week

December 30th, 2009

I’m putting a cut on my anime posts now. I am going to split about half the episodes above the cut, half below. Oh, and this week is FINAL CONCLUDING EPISODES for most Fall 2009 animes… yes, Christmas, my B-day, and end of Fall 09, all in one week. Much too much drama.

Fairy Tail Episode 11 – It’s gettin’ interesting again. This anime is continuing into Winter 2010, so too bad; one-liner review. AAA. [8/10]

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 12 FINAL — Last time: Mafuyu confesses her love; insert astonishment. Typical student council affairs, the topic shifts to everybody’s dreams for the future — what they want to become when they grow up (think Shugo Chara). Random comments ensue on how this is the last episode of Seitokai and nobody is doing anything meaningful. Suddenly a random character from Mafuyu’s BL (translation: Japanese gay male+male love manga/novel/story) shows up. Seitokai-ness ensues. After that, Sugisaki randomly goes into a meaningful dialogue about life, the meaning of strength, and makes tear-jerking references to his past and other interesting plot details that haven’t been revealed to us yet, even in the final episode. And then he finds the gang eavesdropping on him, and the delicate plot dissolves into more Seitokai no Ichizon wackiness. SS. [10/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 13 — This was a meaningless episode. B. [5/10]

Negima (original; winter 2005) — Yeah, I finished Negima, and since I included a random screenshot from Negima, I thought I might as well say something about it. Hm, it started off like Pani Poni Dash! with a male teacher who was secretly a magician, in place of Becky. Oh, and the 31 female students in his class are all in love with him. By the way, have I mentioned: Negi-sensei, aforementioned teacher, is only 10 years old? (9, if you don’t round up…)

Negima is one whacked-up anime. The ending was the most bizzare chain of events I have ever witnessed in an anime. (If you didn’t think the body of the anime wasn’t bizzare enough.) So like, randomly, in an admittingly well-done sequence beautifully displaying her inner feelings (I liked the usage of the sound of a bell), um… the lead female dies. Now of course, you expect this to be like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Negi-sensei grows up and saves the universe and blah, right? But no… all of a sudden Negi’s students have a time travel machine… and then they travel into the past… oh, and he just happens to run into his dad, who… dies… and, um… they fight with demons… in plain sight of human civilization… and then all 31 or whatever of Negi’s students kiss him and are suddenly transformed into mahou shoujos and pwn some weird demon lord. And somehow all the conflicts are resolved… and… ugh. It was so bizzare, the bizzarity counts as entertainment, I suppose.

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 10 — I’ve run out of things to say. Last 3 episodes of 2nd season of Koihime Musou; I hear a 3rd season has already been announced for, what, Spring 2010?
Introducing… Houtou-chan, a character who is even more loli than Shuri! She is another orphan who becomes Shuri’s “little sister” in this episode. Oh, meanwhile, Ryuubi feeds Kan’u, Chouhi is jealous, etc, etc.
This is a really sweet episode. I like the hat. S. [9/10]

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 11 — They put so much money into the artwork for this anime… if only they put as much work into the storywriting.
Bachou’s cousin appears. Is it just me, or is every anime this season referencing that scene from SoraOto‘s first episode? The jokes aren’t really that funny. Anymore. Somehow they make the Yellow Turban Rebellion into some weird J-pop idol group’s fanclub. This is kind of… a twist.
Next episode: “The Generals Attempt to Suppress the Yellow Turban Rebellion”. I wish this was as serious as the titles make it sound.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 12 — I like how the writers for SoraOto always fail to explain how anything they write is relevant.
Is Tomoki trying to imitate Battler? Sohara is still the best female. Hm, the format of this is starting to resemble Seitokai. Oh, and we randomly go back into Serious Mode. Nymph and Tomoki actually make a pretty perfect pair. (Sohara is still better, but.) Lol, Ikaros gets jealous of Tomoki+Nymph. As for Nymph’s monologue to Ikaros… what, is she writing an analytical essay on the symbolism prevalent inside a zoo?
Once again, it’s World vs. Tomoki; very well-done zoo scene. The humor is, as usual, way past excellent. I do think the moments that are supposed to be “touching” still come out as lame. Wahh, Nymph, don’t die! AAA. [8/10]

God… this episode’s outro is really good. Rating up. I’m too lazy to change it, so pretend I wrote AAA+ up there.

空の女王 / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 13 FINAL — Being the final episode, they finally decided to add kanji to the title.

Anything I say at this point won’t really mean anything, so I’ll save the overanalysis for whenever I feel like writing an overanalysis post about SoraOto.

Summary: Nymph is tricked into plotting against Ikaros. Meanwhile, everybody is preparing for the big Christmas party. Ikaros makes her love confession. The rest is so teary I’ll leave it with “WATCH THIS”.

The whole Ikaros battle is kind of like… why don’t you just use Aegis and blow up everybody within a 10km radius? Geez >_<; god, though, the animation is so amazing. The “oh we’re friends” thing with Nymph is just too cheesy, though.

Still though, the… ship… weapon… cannon… thing. Ugh, I can’t get enough of that awesome 3-D animation. (Much better than what Disney/Pixar churns out every month.) SSS. [11/10]

Wow this turned out long. ゴメン~

Cuuuuut. *snip*

First Anime Post of Winter Break

December 20th, 2009

Cheers.

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 11 — Sugisaki is sick with a fever, and the Hekiyou Acadamy Student Council is abnormally normal. No hilarity ensues.

I was originally going to use only that one line as a summary, but the ending… oh my god, Mafuyu confessed… SS. [10/10]

Lots of screenshots, see bottom post. This is the second-to-last episode of Seitokai no Ichizon.

にゃんこい! / Nyan Koi! Episode 12 — Mizuno has gotten suspicious of Junpei’s curse, causing it to progress further. Eventually, he completely becomes a cat, and in a somewhat anti-climactic climax, he finally resolves his curse. That still doesn’t mean all’s well ends well for Junpei… teehee. S. [9/10]

Screenshots are at bottom, again. This was the final episode of Nyan Koi!.

うみねこのく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 24 — lolwut. D. [3/10]

Also, what happened to the random Ange-1998 flashbacks? What happened to the stupendous surprises I expected this episode, being near the end of this season? Disappointed.

Fairy Tail Episode 10 — This was just weird. C. [4/10]

What the heck happened to the plot-driven suspense and humor that made me begin to respect this anime? Disappointed.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 11 — I’m still obsessed with ring my bell every time I hear it.

I am now of the opinion that Sora no Otoshimono would be better without the angels. Sora no Otoshimono would then become a normal school non-harem comedy with Sohara and Tomoki.

There is something between modern Japanese society and the idea of transgenderism. With that being said, this episode Tomoki becomes a girl. Now, I could write a whole essay-length analysis on boy-girl slash transexual characters in Japanese anime… Ranma 1/2‘s aquatransgender titular character Saotome Ranma being the prime example, with things like Kampfer, one of the ToLOVE-ru OVAs, and similar… but I happen to have an English essay to write so let’s save that prompt for another rainy day.

Putting all that aside, this episode contains typical Otoshimono semi-sexual fractured humor-parody-eyecandy. Uwahahaha. This episode’s theme, I approve. Actually… nevermind. I don’t approve, but it’s still funny. And Tomo-chan got what he deserved.

Sora no Otoshimono kind of fails (epicly) at being touching, though. Oh… well.

This is the… actually, I don’t know. Surprisingly, for writing such a long review, no screenshots were taken. It’s always hard rating Sora no Otoshimono because it’s both “oh god this is epic high quality masterpiece art” and “wtf is this messed-up deranged shit” at the same time. S+. [9.5/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 12 — End-of-arc episode; the fetus born from Kiyama-sensei is shown to be the collective conglomerate of the desperate thoughts of 3,000 depressed, defeated, and downright deficient students. Misaka fights this fetus, Antiskill actually does something (first time in the entire To Aru series! omg!), and the 3,000 students are saved… or are they? They may have risen from their comas, but they are still plagued by the troubles that guided them along said path in the first place, and as Misaka is wondering about this after she shows the audience how overpowered she is in a not-really-epic battle where Touma is decidedly missing, Kuroko jumps her, and all is normal again. Meanwhile, Saten and Uiharu have their reunion.

This is a 26-episode anime, so we’re almost halfway through. I can’t believe they took twelve episodes to do one not-so-amazing arc. (It might have been amazing if Touma had shown up, or if Kiyama-sensei was able to save those children in the end.) In Index, each arc was maybe three to six episodes at max, and although there were a mix of good and not-so-good arcs, they generally had perfect flow, no fillers or anything of the sort. Next episode of Railgun looks like a filler. Anyhow, hopefully the next story arc will feature Touma and Misaka in some heart-wrenching fantastically clever scenario, like we have come to expect from To Aru Majutsu no Index.

THERE! A PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING REVIEW! For once. Anyways, rating. S+. [9.5/10]

Kämpfer

Episodes: 12 / Studio: Nomad / TBS
Light Novel Adaptation / Author: Toshihiko Tsukiji
Wiki / ANN

Humor <2/5> | Plot <0/5>
Characters <0/2> | Art <1.5/2>
Music <1/2> | Mood/Tone <-1/2>
Dialogue <-0.5/2> == Total «3/20»

Ouuchh.

Kämpfer Episode 12 FINAL — I find it amusing how much this anime sucked.

Episode rating: Worst episode ever, of the worst anime ever this season. F. [2/10]

Final rating – [Kämpfer]: There wasn’t even a goddamn CONCLUSION. To ANYTHING. This anime, as a whole, gets an F [2/10]. Actually, maybe it even deserves lower. I’ll write a whole long freakin’ review-essay on it later when I feel like it.

Anyways, here are your screenshots.

Somehow a random Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo screenshot got in there. That school uniform is sexy.

[生徒会の一存] Seitokai no Ichizon -10-

December 13th, 2009

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 10

School festival; the Hekiyou Acadamy Student Council is discussing a play they will be performing later on, and they later move on to their duties of cleaning up after the festival. While organizing students’ lost-and-found items, they comment on how we are so eager to have fun, unwilling to clean up after — because when you clean up, the fun times truly come to an end.

There was my attempt at a “normal” summary. What follows is my usual post format — random lines I type out while watching the episode.

“Kenichi”… wahahahaha~~

Tear-jerking, right. Never let Chizuru do screenplays. The entire thing is extremely “wtf”. Oh, wait, every episode of Seitokai is like that. =D

God. I care not to spoil the awesome genius humor and epic parodies. Watch this. Ugh, okay, I have to say this. That satirical play was friggin GENIUS.

In the latter part of the episode, Sugisaki’s still-won’t-admit-it harem pretend to talk about dramatic scenes and make grandiose speeches over the intercom. I was too engrossed in the episode to talk screenshots.

Sugisaki also completely, utterly, randomly, and instantly oscillates between pure genius and idiotic pervert. It’s his defining trait, I suppose.

Like its main character, Seitokai no Ichizon is constantly walking the edge between “pure genius heartbreaking tear-jerking work of art” and “idiotic perverted meant-for-anime-otaku gag parody comedy show”. This episode had a near perfect balance of both. SS+. [10.5/10]

Slacking off on the anime

December 3rd, 2009

I haven’t been keeping up; too much work, and my Flash game project… for once, I have more new anime than I can watch XD

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 23

Pretty nice. Some 1998 business with Ange, and then the rest of the episode is more great Umineko stuff, with Jessica and George somehow gaining magical powers at the end of the episode.

AA. [7/10]

Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 09

Instantly a good episode. Great facial expressions and moe today; the scenario of this ep is great, too. Before the intro song, we have a weird ChizuruxSugisaki moment. Maybe it was a reference to some anime; if so, I didn’t get it. Everybody is reading books, and in the usual way we have the usual Seitokai epicly funny discussions.

And then after the epic humor, we have some typical parody-angst from Seitokai. Lol, I call everything “typical Seitokai” now ><; anyways, we find out more about Chizuru’s real personality, and her past.

Now that we know the pasts of Chizuru, kinda Mafuyu and Minatsu, and… we don’t care that much about our President, her past is probably “sweets, picturebooks, and more sweets”. So all that’s left is  Key-kun! Chizuru talks about Sugisaki having some sort of deep scar or whatever; when Seitokai gets into the drama and character depth, it does it good.

SS. [10/10]

And that joke in the next-episode-preview was great.

They’re getting shorter and shorter…

November 28th, 2009

Category-by-category ratings are too tiring. In fact, typing more than two words per episode is too tiring in the first place. One-word reviews ftw.

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 08

"Lolicon."

"Lolicon."

(An episode of Seitokai where I actually almost felt sorry for Sugisaki-kun… hell must have frozen over.)

AAA+. [8.5/10]

うみねこのく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 22

Huh.

B. [5/10]

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 08

Lol. (Random screenshot.)

AA. [7/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 09

My internet broke down in the middle of obtaining this episode… so that’s why the entire post was delayed.

“Today’s Kuroko is dangerous.” It’s rather like a weather forecast.

Saten turns to the dark side, and Touma doesn’t show up. :(

What-I’m-Doing-Right-Now Post

November 28th, 2009

I’m semi-bored even though I have a truckload of homework to do over Thanksgiving break. My stores of willpower have been thoroughly depleted by now, however. (By the way, if you haven’t heard this line from me yet: “You can accomplish ANYTHING with sheer willpower.” Recently I revised this to “sheer willpower and enough time”.)

The problem with humans in general: “willpower” is exactly what we lack. Figures.

So like, here’s how my Thanksgiving went in one sentence: Guests came over, turkey was horrible, I would rather have had a Cup Noodle. Actually that was a run-on; sorry.

On Black Friday my mom and dad made $125, interestingly. My mom went at 4:00am to shop for deals and spent like $100. When she came home, my dad told her to return everything she bought because it was worthless junk that we already had too much of anyways. It just so happens that the store’s sale ended at 1pm… and when we returned it, they refunded us at the non-sale price (about $200). So we made $100 there. Also, they gave us a free $25 gift card that they didn’t bother taking back. Modern retailing is interesting, but they made so much net profit from Black Friday, I doubt they really care.

My dad’s “excuse” for the money we walked off with was especially interesting: “We can’t tell them that we walked off with $125 from them! If we told the sales associate, she would surely have been fired! We’re not telling them about the money because we care about the sales associate’s welfare!”

Fast forward to Saturday: my family went with some Asian family friends to Newport Beach. The problem was, there were 6 “children under five” and only one “teenager” (along with everybody’s parents). I’m sure my dear little siblings fully enjoyed the trip — we rented a 14-person boat and drove around the harbor, and we even let each of the little children take a turn at “driving” the 5mph hunk of a boat. I, however, didn’t get much done, so I consider it a waste of a day.

Here I am, day 3/5. Mists essay: 0%. Oh, I forgot to talk about something.

I’ve ranted about AT&T before, right? Well, our 2wire modem (2701-B or whatnot) must be AT&T’s secret plan to sabotage our home networks or something. Seriously, nothing works. That damn innocent-looking white box’s “firewall” is truly a menace. It doesn’t let any of my legitimate traffic through, yet it gives AT&T and 2wire full remote control access to it. They don’t let me, the OWNER of the router/modem… more like brick… set the settings on the router… what a user-friendly design. Anyways, I spent all of Friday night messing with it because I was only getting 30kbps download on my anime, and one small attempt to fix it resulted in my whole network borking out… leading me to stay up until 3am messing with this conglomeration of bricks and wires.

Luckily my dad randomly bought a new router online on Thursday, so I’ll just set the 2wire to bridge mode and use my Linksys as our gateway — and actually have control over my home network. Sigh.

Anyways, now here I am. Reading Seitokai no Ichizon manga and pretending I know Japanese because I can read the furigana; waiting for my Railgun to finish transferring at snail-pace; and finally… blogging in place of the essay I should be writing at the moment.

600 word post. These 600 words would probably be better spent on Mists of Avalon, but when I rule the world I will ban that book from the face of the Earth. All copies shall be burnt, and anybody found in possession of it will be tortured, then killed, then tortured some more.

When life sucks… watch anime.

November 19th, 2009

Stayed home from school today. Stomacheache, flu, fever, life sucks.

That’s why you refer to my slogan:

When life sucks… watch anime.

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 07 — it was pretty blah.

The Hekiyou Gakuen Student Council go on a summer vacation trip (“training camp” á la K-On!‘s?) to Tokyo, and typical Seitokai things happen. Less anime references (that I got, anyways) this episode, but still extremely random.

There were a lot of good shots in this ep, but I’m not feeling well so I didn’t bother doing any screenshots.

Oh, and this ep gets an AAA. [8/10]

フェアリーテイル / Fairy Tail Episode 06 — Cliché-filled, as usual, but humor is great. Gray+Natsu+Lucy+whatshername red haired girl make the best comedy quartet ever >______<

Surprisingly, this week’s Fairy Tail is better than this week’s Seitokai.

WOOOAAHH the red-haired girl is cool. (Still don’t remember her name.)

Oh, right. “Erza”.

Wow, what a cliffhanger. S+. [9.5/10]

こばと / Kobato Episode 06 — Field trip. What’s with those evil gangster-looking people?

Hmm, is Ioryogi going to do some investigating on the evil gang people? What a sweet thing to do.

Wait… what… happened? … magic… wtf… see… I really don’t get this… What did Ioryogi-san do in the past? Oooh, plot thickening!

I want my romantic Kobato+Fujimoto pairing already. They’d really make a nice pair, idk.

Hm, this ep wasn’t touching or interesting or funny. Fujimoto seems to we warming up to Kobato; that’s nice. I still don’t get the weird talking animals running around. A. [6/10]

うみねこのく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 21 — I still don’t get the timejumping and Ange and 1998 and what the hell is happening. I still feel very very sad about how everybody is bullying Ange.

Lol, it’s the police officer’s voice! Um… what was his name.. Oo– Oo…  gah.

Hm, and now Maria wants to kill her mom. And Ange just denied the existence of her furniture and… what, did she die?

A rich person is one who is satisfied with oneself.

Touching quote of the day.

Aand it’s back to Rokkenjima in 1998… what are those weird people who are trying to kill Ange? What the hell is going on >___<

Hm, this episode falls into the “I don’t get it so it’s un-rateable” category. It’s worse than 11eyes ><

しゅごキャラ!ドッキドキ / Shugo Chara! Dokki Doki Episode 01 — Yeah, I finished the 102-episode first series today… so… onwards…

They shortened the episodes from 1/2 hour to 13 minutes (yeah, why the ** did they do that? I don’t know.) to add some… live action segment with people dressed up (“cosplaying”? No, that would be an insult to the art of cosplay) as characters… from Shugo Chara… and… ugh. I was too painstruck to watch the liveaction half.

Anyways, as for the actual episode, it was a normal Shugo Chara! ep. Why am I watching this. It’s like volunteering for brain damage.

[生徒会の一存] Seitokai no Ichizon 06

November 9th, 2009

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 06

I took 12 shots for this episode, all of them are in the gallery above [now below, it took up too much space]. In the actual post, I’ll give my comments and highlight the best screenshots.

"That's nothing; there are schools that have students pass out fliers in bunny suits at the front gate--" "That's only SOS!"

"That's nothing; there are schools that have students pass out fliers in bunny suits at the front gate--" "That's only SOS!"

Notice Sugisaki suddenly grows a bust in this frame.

Seitokai no Ichizon also seems to be overly fond of Haruhi allusions. They also seem to like Higurashi, as will be shown in a later shot.

"Now that the biggest problem has turned to ash, let's continue with the meeting."

"Now that the biggest problem has turned to ash, let's continue with the meeting."

Poor Sugisaki.

Okay, begin actual summary.

This episode: the student council is deciding on the theme for this year’s Cultural Festival. For those who don’t watch anime often, Japanese schools normally hold at least one cultural festival every year, where every class and club in the school participates with some sort of event, show, booth, food stand, etc.

Sugisaki’s idea for the theme: “sexual”. Of course, instantly objected to by the other four members.

One by one, each of the members’ ideas is rejected by the four others… a side effect of them knowing each other too well >_<

Mafuyu's second idea for the school's Cultural Festival theme. The first, for your information, was to do with boys' love.

Mafuyu's second idea for the school's Cultural Festival theme. The first, for your information, was to do with boys' love.

I actually liked Minatsu’s idea the best.

"First, to get an entrance ticket to the festival, one must survive an elimination battle royale."

"First, to get an entrance ticket to the festival, one must survive an elimination battle royale."

"One badge will be given to each person, but without two, they can't participate on the second day."

"One badge will be given to each person, but without two, they can't participate on the second day."

Seitokai06-6

That reminded me of Yugioh, actually, and those… what were they called? Those armband star things?

Either way, I love Seitokai and its random, awesome, epic, beautifully animated humor. I also love its superior character design, each and every character (barring Sugisaki) has an interesting, unique personality that yet totally fits one or more anime cliches (archetypes) that totally enhance viewers’ reception of each character.

I commend the author of Seitokai no Ichizon.

"If you're going to have a meeting, I prefer you do it with a hatchet and a bat."

"If you're going to have a meeting, I prefer you do it with a hatchet and a bat."

Here’s your Higurashi reference.

"The BGM will be a remix of the sound of styrofoam rubbing against styrofoam and nails screeching against a blackboard."

"The BGM will be a remix of the sound of styrofoam rubbing against styrofoam and nails screeching against a blackboard."

She’s just… evil.

"How does 'sweets' sound?"

"How does 'sweets' sound?"

And there’s our lovable President’s proposal.

Other happening in this episode: Minatsu announces her mom is remarrying, and she will be transferring, along with Mafuyu. ;______;

Of course, they’re main characters… so that didn’t happen. Surprisingly, Sugisaki actually did something useful this episode in stopping them from transferring… and Minatsu seems to have (at least partially) fallen in love with him ><

"Mafuyu won't forget about Sugisaki-senpai until the day Mafuyu forgets you!"

"Mafuyu won't forget about Sugisaki-senpai until the day Mafuyu forgets you!"

Mafuyu is surprisingly capable of being sarcastic at times. Or maybe she wasn’t doing it on purpose.

"Wait!"

"Wait!"

But everything turned out happy. I find it odd that they only postponed their pending school transfer. I mean, they’re moving to China (I’m assuming that’s what they meant by “mainland”) so… yeah… postpone?

It’s sad that if we get a Seitokai second season, we’ll probably go without Shiina and Minatsu. They’re my two favorite characters from Seitokai, so you can’t take them away from me ;_____;

First Anime Post of the New Month

November 2nd, 2009

This Monday rocks.

Seiken no Blacksmith Episode 05 – getting boring… nothing new or epic has happened. The romantic tension between Cecily and Luke isn’t even funny or cute or interesting anymore. Also, about Cecily’s bust… it’s emphasized so much, it’s totally annoying.

Yeah, Luke must be a pedophile. Totally. Aria is cute still, but she still has that “new character” factor helping her out. Aria and Cecily are pushy ><

Luke is totally antisocial. He must be the best character in this anime. Also, is this episode going to be centered around Lisa trying out ten thousand different outfits? I mean, she’s cute but, hmm, I wonder about the LisaxLuke factor too.

And yeah, I forgot how to spell “Seiken no Blacksmith” in Japanese, so too bad. ^^

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 05 — This anime is so goddamn hilarious, it hurts.

Random Screencap

Random screencap.

Ugh, seriously, I can’t get enough of Seitokai ><

Random screencap 2.

Random screencap 2.

SS. [10/10]

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 05 — Another freakin [11/10] SSS-rank episode from the guys at Sora no Otoshimono! This anime is, dare I say, funnier than Hayate. It might not be suitible for all ages, however — we see semi-nudity and a lot of panties.

I didn't feel like taking relevant screenshots today.

I didn't feel like taking relevant screenshots today.

This was so hilarious… just… watch it.

Like I said. SSS. [11/10] desu.

There’s still Fairy Tail and last week’s Nyan Koi! to watch and write about, but meh.

The Sunday Anime Post

October 27th, 2009

Usually, when Sunday comes along, a truckload of new episodes come out.

However, nothing really came out today except Blacksmith. That’s really odd… Seitokai is going to be out late as usual, but yesterday was also really anime-empty. The only thing that came out yesterday was Nyan Koi!, and I don’t really care much about that one. Friday was also boring.

Well, I’ll start with a review of this week’s Blacksmith, and update this as Sunday goes along.

Seiken no Blacksmith Episode 04 – It was interesting… yet it was uninteresting.

Random screenshot.

Random screenshot.

Well… we see Cecily and Luke being tsundere to each other, like usual. That’s like, the highlight of this anime. CecilyxLuke forever, right?

Anyways, as for the action… the um fire-golem-person-monster-thing-that-melts-iron was kind of… idk, it wasn’t that cool, but it didn’t suck. The sword, what was she called? Ah, right, Aria. Weird name for a “Demon Sword” but ahh.

So… this anime would be more fun if we saw the main cast (of Cecily, Luke, Lucy, and Aria) go off on some Inuyasha-like journey and have great adventures. The current status quo is simply too frustrating, boring, annoying, uninteresting, and did I mention, really boring?

Either way though, the intro is another one of those “OMG this one is the best song this season!” after I listen to it. Too many good songs this season. The anime is just cute, it doesn’t have any real impact (yet). I want to see Cecily and Luke do cool things and pwn badguys left and right! Agh. AAA. [8/10]

Fairy Tail Episode 03 – Natsu tricks Lucy into teaming up with him. Their work this time is to steal a book and burn it. Book-burning. Fun.

Along the way, they accidentally blow up this huge mansion, Kentucky-fry a couple buff muscular dudes, and wreck general havoc. Better than last episode, I guess… ? AA [7/10]

Nyan Koi! Episode 04 – A three-word summary of this episode: “Mizuno is hot.”

Random screenshot.

Random screenshot.

Really though, this episode was really good for Nyan Koi!. No, but, it’s like weird. This episode was totally drawn and animated like it was a manga.

Actually, this ep was almost like a Seitokai ep; lots of random references. I only recognized a few, I guess.

Why do they start speaking Kansai-ish near the end of the ep? >_<

Why did they randomly fall in love? XD It was cheesy but awesome~~

This is like a stupid-ified version of CLANNAD. If like, they toned down Tomoya’s coolness, removed Sunohara, made it harem instead of Nagisa-only, added a pile of cats, and a couple of other minor changes… yeah. Well, I guess the characters are completely different, but still, the framework of the anime is basically a stupid version of CLANNAD for 3-year-olds or something.

Either way, nice episode. AA [7/10]

Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu (Sailor Uniform and Machine Gun) reference; the only ref I got (lol, not a dorama/j-movie person).

Shakugan no Shanatan G – Lol.

Of course, it's always Sugisaki's fault.

Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 04 – It’s TUESDAY, and this episode is FINALLY out! It’s been almost a week since the episode came out!

Of course, it’s as parody-ful and hilarious as any other ep. Don’t have time to take a bunch of screenshots (this week I did Sora no Otoshimono instead, lol).

… lol, and of course, Seitokai is doing more self-referencing like the first ep.

… okay, THAT was a railgun reference. That was definitely a railgun reference. And, lol, it was the only reference I got in Minatsu’s rant.

Uuu! Looks like this ep will be Minatsu-focused! <333 suki~

I still don't get how gaming and Boys' Love go together.

OMG at Mafuyu…

… ugh, I think I’m starting to dislike Chizuru. Her scene was just… eww. XD

Sugisaki is such a talented writer. Too bad he's surrounded by idiots (minus Chizuru).

Okay, time to write a serious paragraph on this… not that I really have anything constructive to say. Other than “omg this episode was epic, seitokai is epic, watch it!!!11oneoneeleven”.

Hahaha, I ended up taking piles and piles of screenshots anyways… agh.

There should be a name for this… like “Obsessive-Compulsive Screenshot Taking Disorder (OCSTD)”. ^_^

"Bands are in fashion lately in anime."

OMG TOTAL BLATANT OBVIOUS AWESOME K-ON! REFERENCE XDD especially their lines later on (tehe, won’t spoiler). That was awesome.

The weekly random kawaii Mafuyu shot.

Okay, that’s already way too many screenshots. Watch the rest of the ep yourself.

Aren't males supposed to be the dominant gender in society? What happened to all that English Honors feminist crap?

Maybe Chizuru is secretly a guy (like Nadeshiko from Shugo Chara!… yeah, she’s the reason I considered that possibility XD)

Especially since she’s infatuated with the president…
