11eyes

January 24th, 2010

So I finished 11eyes today.

11eyes Episode 10 — hmm. They make every statement Shiori utters seem so utterly important. Suddenly this turns into the problem of 6 high school kids into “omg, the whole world is going to be destroyed!!!”

And Yuuka… is so entertaining. Also, if you think about it now… Kakeru is now the only male character. Meaning… 1 male… 6 girls… hmmmm.

The plot behind the Witch of Babylon and the Eye of Aeon is quite cool, however. Kudos to the scriptwriters for this.

And the love… septagon? Hehe. Yuuka needs to go off into some obscure corner and asphyxiate herself. Kusakabe-senpai with Kakeru is better. Heck, any other girl (minus Yukiko) would be better than Yuuka.

So angsty… and the gore… thank you for censoring it. The epicness and dead character count… it’s painful ><; SS.

11eyes Episode 11 — YUUKA GOT WHAT SHE DESERVED! Woohoo!! She will go down in history as the “stupidest anime character that has ever existed”.

Wait, what? She didn’t die? NOOOO!

You know, for that epic battle with Witch VS Shiori+Onmyou swordswoman+big dragon… enter Nanoha or something, and one Starlight Breaker will take care of everything ^^

“What Kakeru and I can do right now…” I can just hear that voice in her head finishing that sentence. Ahem.

Wait… am I reading this right? “The only way we can save the world is if we… make babies together.”

God save the queen >____>

… THE HELL Yuuka is still alive… and now Misuzu-senpai is going to like suicide or something. Wahh. Oh, nevermind. I totally saw that coming.

……… okay. GREAT. Now everybody’s dead except for Misuzu. That’s awesome.

The ending of this episode made me speechless. SS+. [10.5/10]

11eyes Episode 12 FINAL — THAT. WAS. EPIC. All of the events of the last episode were part of Kakeru’s precognition, granted him by the Eye of Aeon. GOD that’s epic. So the world didn’t end. Well, of course it didn’t, but… ^_^

He kills himself… despite how obvious that was, it was still very surprising.

Kakeru’s past… is sad. Sorry for being Captain Obvious for a moment there, but… yeah.

God this is epic… and… wahhh, the Witch sounds like Yukari Tamura in Bernkastel-mode, ahahaha.

Okay, now suddenly we’re in Cheesy Protagonist Speech mode… and… within 10 seconds of “what the hell”, the Witch is somehow sealed and the anime ends.

… … …

What the hell is with the happy ending? Everybody is alive, and… … blah.

Great approach-to-climax, but very unsatisfying climax. S. [9/10]

The entire anime gets… an S+.

There is a difference between well-drawn ugly things and bad art.

January 23rd, 2010

It’s been so rainy lately.

Dance in the Vampire Bund Episode 03 — Remember kids: say no to blonde loli vampire queens!

Vampire Bund is SOOO EPIC. SS. [10/10]

Ookamikakushi Episode 02 — Such depressing lyrics. “As soon as I met you, I felt like my life grew shorter.”

The actions of the native characters are almost exactly the same as Higurashi. After all, Satoshi-kun… transferred too. B+. [5.5/10]

Seikon no Qwaser Episode 01 — What, is this a badly-done Japanese horror movie or something?

The song is good; but.. the hell with 60 girls and one guy in the OP animation? That gives me a creepy feeling about what this anime is going to feel like.

Let’s see… so far, one red-haired Haruhi clone, one blue-haired Mikuru clone, and one dog-eared Yuki clone. The most original anime I have ever seen.

Wait… so the storywriters of this must have been fanatical Haruhi fans with a weird yuri Haruhi-Mikuru pairing fetish?

And the class president is a short-haired Reinforce clone! Awesome, so these storywriters are mismatched Nanoha fans too!

It’s interesting how the plot of this anime is centered around Christianity. I wonder how this will turn out. I hope it’ll be somewhat… like Mists of Avalon or Fate/sn I guess.

I wonder if it lowers the voice actor’s intelligence acting like a complete idiot.

It was just getting cool for a moment here, and then… then… …

Oh, and I don’t think God would really appreciate you blowing up his church, mister. Hm, the villain got pwnt so easily, too. Overpowered protagonist much?

Aaand of course the next day he transfers in… and the ending sequence makes me cry… at how horrible the song is. C. [4/10]

Baka to Test to Shokanjuu Episode 03 — This is the best, funniest anime of Winter 10. Also quite possibly the best op animation. Eh, I don’t know. Not as good as Treasure, but not bad.

I love the art style… the outlines, polkadots, it’s such a fun way of drawing anime. It’s probably fun for the animators, and it makes BakaTest really fun to watch.

The ending lyrics are really funny, too. S+. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this episode. [9.5/10]

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 16Railgun is just no fun without Touma. B+. [5.5/10]

Omamori Himari Episode 03 — What’s really good about this anime: the character designs. Of course, overlooking that most of the characters aren’t very original, they’re still very good character designs, coupled with good character art. It’s not a particularly fun or original art style (like BakaTest), however.

It’s utterly stupid how water-demon-green-haired girl… um, Shizuku… suddenly turns from “I want to kill you” to “I like you *flirt* *blush*”. This is the problem with these kinds of animes. The hell with the sudden Higurashi-style frame?

The blonde maid smells like Mahoro! From Mahoromatic! I like that, except… the f*** with the huge chests x_x

I dunno, maybe this can be the new Koihime. A+. [6.5/10]

Vampire Bund 02 Disappointing; new rankings

January 18th, 2010

I don’t want to give ratings anymore. The notation takes too long to type.

Best song:

 • Toki no Mukou, Maboroshi no Sora (時の向こう 幻の空)” by FictionJunction and “月導 -Tsukishirube-” by Yuuka Nanri (Ookamikakushi)
 • “Hikari no Senritsu (光の旋律)” by Kalafina (Yuki Kajiura and co) – a very beautiful song (Sora no Woto)

Best anime:

 • Hanamaru Kindergarten
 • Sora no Woto

Because, obviously, an anime’s theme song is several orders of magnitude more important than anything else. ;)

Fairy Tail Episode 14 — Erza arrives. And hell, is she pissed.

“Please keep me fragging myself a secret, okay?” XD

Hm, it was kind of lame how easily Erza went “fine”. The hell with the random plot bombshell.

Dance in the Vampire Bund Episode 02 — In Full HD! the file is friggin 1.5gb…

The hell with subtitles, I’ll watch it raw in Japanese.

The OP animation is pretty nice. (Although, from the epic first episode, I expected more.)

Still, though, this video quality sucks. It’s in 1080p, and it’s still just unbearable.

Lead male is nice, handsome. A bit of a Touma-clone, but then again, aren’t they all nowadays.

So… like… how is the Queen of All Vampires, the richest and most powerful person in the world… this clumsy, loli blonde little girl again?

Still, the missiles flying around are cool. And everybody trying to kill Mina… yeah. Reminds me of… Eden? Idk.

Her voice 100% equals Rebecca Miyamoto. I’m sorry, I can’t think of anybody else. Rebecca = super genius blonde. Mina is the same. QED.

Blaahhhh naked loli sucking blood…

“I have no memories.” Again, channeling Touma, are we. As well as like every other male protagonist out there…

Shinjuku towers… they just love to use those buildings in anime, eh?

DUN DUN DUN! Hero is on the verge of death… and then Mysterious Superpower awakens! Hero-san pwns everything in sight! Gasp!

Okay, maybe this anime isn’t as good as I thought.

Best+Worst

January 18th, 2010

Best: Dance in the Vampire Bund

Worst: Chu-Bra

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 15 – What? No Touma in the new OP?

Bleh, it was a good song, but without Touma Railgun just isn’t right. The new ending song is better than ED1, though.

The “… eh? eh? … … … EHHHHH?” moment at the end was kind of fun. Other than that… Railgun has been rather blah lately. B. [5/10]

Y’know, all they have to do is add a half-second cameo of Touma and I’ll be satisfied. Teehee.

Omamori Himari Episode 02 — Himari is so… flirty. Usually these “weird angel/fairy/demon/Flame Haze” girls are dumber than that. Boring intro song.

I could drown a fish.

I could drown a fish

… FANSERVICE *eyes bleeding*. Please, no more lame swimsuit fanservice. The plot actually seemed interesting for a moment, and here they go ruining it with fanservice left, right, above, and below. I think the “romance” and the entire harem thing is annoying. It hurts to watch anime when 90% of the screentime is devoted to showing the females in sexy poses flirting and tripping over each other to get this one guy to like them.

I think the art of Japanese animation is being ruined by oversized breasts. A. [6/10]

God… lame… laame… Green-haired girl had some screenshottable moments though.

Sora no Woto Episode 01 — “Sorami Kanata” — what a cute name, at the very least. She’s cuter than Yui, too.

What the… what a fantastic intro sequence… I’m pleasantly amazed. Lol, she has perfect pitch. The Mio-copy is cuter than Mio, too. Or, at least, more mature.

I love how this anime has such a serious tone. Such a relief after watching Omamori Himari. No bouncing chests, no obnoxious flirting…

Ugh, I really really like the style (animation style AND story-telling style) of this anime. I’m not saying it’s perfect, and there are a lot of things I didn’t like about this ep that I didn’t bother saying, but this anime generally exceeded my expectations. They were pretty low expectations, I’ll admit (exact K-On! carbon copy or worse), but it’s great how this anime feels. It comes out with a rustic, medieval feel, combined with a more Nanoha-like (not K-On! like) character tone. This is mostly because K-On! is a comedy-focused yonkoma adaptation.

I still can’t say from episode 01, but… AAA. [8/10]

Dance in the Vampire Bund Episode 01 — …. godddd. SS+. [10.5/10]

Chu-Bra Episode 02 — SOMEBODY SHOOT ME NOW [0/10]

Lol, I just watched the best anime of the season, followed by the worst anime of the season, and it’s amazing how big the gap is.

Actually on second thought… ugh… … [-5/10], which would be a… um… F=2, G=1, H=0, I=-1, J=-2, K=-3, L=-4, M. Ahaha.

Ookamikakushi Episode 01 — Ryukushi07 goodness, supposedly.

Most of what I thought about this episode was identical to Kurogane’s (better) review of it. The OP, I must say, is probably the best song I’ve heard so far this season. The first 5 minutes of this… amazing. Unfortunately… it devolved into a generic harem galgame anime quickly.

Imouto-chan (her name is Mana) is very cute… but something about the wheelchair screams “Nunnally clone!!” to me. Actually nevermind, she’s better than Nunnally (who I never really liked in the first place).

Lead heroine… is she? Eww. Tomboy freak. Love at first sight.

The animation is above-par, I am glad to say. Something about “wolf legend” screams Horo slash Spice and Wolf. The dad is a cool character. Mana’s personality is great, too.

This anime needs a Sunohara personality.

Oh my god… Rika copy spotted!

Why the hell is he so popular… “Hassaku matsuri”? Is it just me, or does that sound like Watanagashi (“Cotton Drifting Festival”) from Higurashi? In fact… this sounds so much like Higurashi so far, except Higurashi was better…

Hm, did I just hear cicadas? XDD

That ending… was epic. Also gave me a slight reminder of Shana and how people’s existences were erased and all. And wow, what a great ending song. S+. [9.5/10]

According to the preview… I hope nothing happens to imouto-san :<

Winter 2010, continued

January 14th, 2010

Me says:
How much dirt is there in a 3inx3inx4in hole?
Justin says:
36in3
Me says:
wrong; there is no dirt in a hole

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 14 — No Touma.

However, this was a great way to end the Level Upper arc. Which, surprisingly, still hasn’t completely ended apparently.

All this episode really was, though, was characters from To Aru Majutsu no Index making cameo appearances and saying one or two cool lines that are supposed to be inspirational. A+. [6.5/10]

Fairy Tail Episode 13 — Natsu versus badguys was cool. Lucy’s battle was facepalm-inducing. C. [4/5]

Omamori Himari Episode 01 — Not bad. Too much fanservice…

This anime feels like a combination of elements from various animes: the main character looks like Mai (Kanon), the main character’s childhood friend is like Yuuka (11eyes) and Mai doubles as Kusakabe-senpai, the school scenes totally remind me of Da Capo, and actually, the childhood friend reminds me more of Nemu (Da Capo) than Yuuka. The aka–whatever… the spirit/demon/things… they remind me of the Tayutai from Tayutama (except not as cute). Of course, as many have stated, the premise is also similar to Shakugan no Shana, although in my opinion they aren’t that similar.

Geez, this week’s anime have all been failures so far. B. [5/10]

Baka to Test to Shokanjuu Episode 02 — Once again, enjoyable intro animation.

Lawll… “knowledge literally is power” ><; I like the setting, camera positions, and overall animation flow of this anime. It reminds me of a whole lot of things that I don’t feel like blogging about.

Wow… this is TOTALLY the next Seitokai. That conversation with Himeji was more Seitokai than Seitokai.

Hm, the “summoning” thing is still kind of borderline stupid, though. I guess it’s original though; instead of Index-style telekinesis or magic or whatnot.

Of course, this anime doesn’t take its own plot seriously so it barely matters. The ending was so LAWL… Best anime this season. Actually… only good anime this season. SS. [10/10]

Hanamaru Kindergarten Episode 01 — THIS. IS. THE. CUTEST. THING. THAT. HAS. EVER. BEEN. MADE.

They have outdone themselves again… first Evangelion, then FLCL, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and the like… and now they are mowing through the competition with their newest work, Hanamaru Kindergarten. GAINAX can’t get any awesomer than this.

However, not only are the kindergartners cute, with unique, appealing character designs, but the adults also possess a wide variety of personalities, and their relationships tie in with the children’s antics to provide a most entertaining episode.

The adult lead has an entertaining personality… it has a rather Watanuki-kun feel to it, and he even looks 99.9% similar to Watanuki.

Anzu and her mother’s relationship to the lead is especially entertaining. Anzu’s mother was his upperclassman in high school; I think he liked her. Their parting words, or something, was that “My child will grow up to be just like me!” And five years later or something, we realize how true those words are >.<

Anzu’s character is inexplicable. Her two kindergarten friends so far include Hiiragi (who is chibi Ichijou, 100.1%) and… that shy girl. Forgot her name.

Ugh… so overflowingly cute. SS. [10/10]

I have to study for finals now, so I’ll save the rest of my pile of winter 2010 animes for… um… sometime later.

Winter 2010, Start!

January 8th, 2010

Seriously, this season is so horrible and facepalm-trigger-happy, I want to swear off on anime until Spring 2010.

New Anime

Chu-Bra Episode 01 — An anime about female underwear.

I think that just killed about 300k braincells. In exchange, I now know more than I ever needed to know about panties. D; sorry for having such high standards. [3/10]

I liked some user’s joke about “chu-bra ca-bra” though. Sigh, lots of (unsatisfied) Negima fans out there, it seems.

Baka to Test to Shokanjuu Episode 01 — The next Seitokai for Winter 2010… maybe.

I really enjoyed the first episode of this anime. From the Winter 2010 previews, I didn’t pay much attention to this, but the humor is plentiful in… um… what should I call this for short? BakaTest?

The RPG-system was interesting; the plot makes me want to know what happens next. Will be looking forward to next week’s episode. AAA. [8/10]

***

I have a whole pile of Winter 2010 animes queued up; but haven’t had time lately. So sorry, but the Winter 2010 start post is only going to have 2 winter 2010 animes, tehe.

Continuations

Fairy Tail Episode 12 — Erza’s on her way; Gray is out of his league. To a cat, fish can solve anything. A. [6/10]

Old Stuff

11eyes Episode 08 — Boy, I’m behind on 11eyes. This OP has got to be one of the epicest intro sequences I have ever seen. I heard 11eyes turns out to be really epic in the latter half, so I have high expectations.

I enjoyed the first quarter of the anime — everything was epic and new, and the animation was mind-blowing. However, the second quarter was just boring plots and uninteresting effects that had already been used. Totally lame, cliche plot devices, check. Annoying romances? Check. Stupid, idiotic villains? Goddamn, check.

Anyways, here’s my opinion on episode 08: We’re getting back into the good meat. And I love how Yuka always catches them… >_< awawawawa

The classroom humor is well done; I wouldn’t mind if we had more of that and some less plot. Yuka is cute, but I wish she was less dumb. Or at least, if they had to make her dumb, at least make her realistically dumb.

I think they’re overplaying Saiko’s “tragic past”. Lovey-dovey Takehisa+Saiko is well-done too. Of course, when everything is going well, somebody is going to die. =D (See Fate/stay night or something; idk.)

However… Yuuka and Kakeru moments kill brain cells.

DAMN… I was RIGHT! SHE DID DIE. Wow, that either means I’ve watched way too much anime for my own good, or this anime is too predictable. Probably both. AA. [7/10]

11eyes Episode 09 — Again, the death of Takehisa’s mother is very well-played. Takehisa, normally the who-cares fuck-society guy, suddenly crying and wailing really strikes a critical point in the minds of viewers.

On top of that, three major confrontations at once. What exactly is Shiori-chan? How have the Knights entered the real world? Why the heck is everybody being targeted in the first place?

Misuzu-senpai is the new Tama-nee. I want a T-shirt of her.

Isn’t it funny how everybody is fighting these climactic battles… and it’s just Yuuka who’s sitting there having tea? Ahahaha.

Ouch… Yuuka… you don’t care if everybody else dies? Wow… that really says something about her. There has got to be a limit to how dumb she can be. Hurry up and kill her, please, somebody.

Lol, when you think of Index, you think of To Aru Majutsu no Index… in this anime it’s a magic institution (and that’s cool too ^^).

Aand at the end of the episode, it’s revealed that Takehisa died. And not only that: Yukiko, who loved him, killed him at his request. I saw that coming too. AAA. [8/10]

Negima!? Various Episodes — Kill me. It 95% sucks (see post), the only good parts are the intro songs and animation sequences. 1000% SPARKLING’s animation is epic, and the other OP is an awesome song.

Look, ma! No screenshots!

Fall 2009 Anime Finale Week

December 30th, 2009

I’m putting a cut on my anime posts now. I am going to split about half the episodes above the cut, half below. Oh, and this week is FINAL CONCLUDING EPISODES for most Fall 2009 animes… yes, Christmas, my B-day, and end of Fall 09, all in one week. Much too much drama.

Fairy Tail Episode 11 – It’s gettin’ interesting again. This anime is continuing into Winter 2010, so too bad; one-liner review. AAA. [8/10]

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 12 FINAL — Last time: Mafuyu confesses her love; insert astonishment. Typical student council affairs, the topic shifts to everybody’s dreams for the future — what they want to become when they grow up (think Shugo Chara). Random comments ensue on how this is the last episode of Seitokai and nobody is doing anything meaningful. Suddenly a random character from Mafuyu’s BL (translation: Japanese gay male+male love manga/novel/story) shows up. Seitokai-ness ensues. After that, Sugisaki randomly goes into a meaningful dialogue about life, the meaning of strength, and makes tear-jerking references to his past and other interesting plot details that haven’t been revealed to us yet, even in the final episode. And then he finds the gang eavesdropping on him, and the delicate plot dissolves into more Seitokai no Ichizon wackiness. SS. [10/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 13 — This was a meaningless episode. B. [5/10]

Negima (original; winter 2005) — Yeah, I finished Negima, and since I included a random screenshot from Negima, I thought I might as well say something about it. Hm, it started off like Pani Poni Dash! with a male teacher who was secretly a magician, in place of Becky. Oh, and the 31 female students in his class are all in love with him. By the way, have I mentioned: Negi-sensei, aforementioned teacher, is only 10 years old? (9, if you don’t round up…)

Negima is one whacked-up anime. The ending was the most bizzare chain of events I have ever witnessed in an anime. (If you didn’t think the body of the anime wasn’t bizzare enough.) So like, randomly, in an admittingly well-done sequence beautifully displaying her inner feelings (I liked the usage of the sound of a bell), um… the lead female dies. Now of course, you expect this to be like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Negi-sensei grows up and saves the universe and blah, right? But no… all of a sudden Negi’s students have a time travel machine… and then they travel into the past… oh, and he just happens to run into his dad, who… dies… and, um… they fight with demons… in plain sight of human civilization… and then all 31 or whatever of Negi’s students kiss him and are suddenly transformed into mahou shoujos and pwn some weird demon lord. And somehow all the conflicts are resolved… and… ugh. It was so bizzare, the bizzarity counts as entertainment, I suppose.

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 10 — I’ve run out of things to say. Last 3 episodes of 2nd season of Koihime Musou; I hear a 3rd season has already been announced for, what, Spring 2010?
Introducing… Houtou-chan, a character who is even more loli than Shuri! She is another orphan who becomes Shuri’s “little sister” in this episode. Oh, meanwhile, Ryuubi feeds Kan’u, Chouhi is jealous, etc, etc.
This is a really sweet episode. I like the hat. S. [9/10]

真・恋姫無双 / Shin Koihime Musou Episode 11 — They put so much money into the artwork for this anime… if only they put as much work into the storywriting.
Bachou’s cousin appears. Is it just me, or is every anime this season referencing that scene from SoraOto‘s first episode? The jokes aren’t really that funny. Anymore. Somehow they make the Yellow Turban Rebellion into some weird J-pop idol group’s fanclub. This is kind of… a twist.
Next episode: “The Generals Attempt to Suppress the Yellow Turban Rebellion”. I wish this was as serious as the titles make it sound.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 12 — I like how the writers for SoraOto always fail to explain how anything they write is relevant.
Is Tomoki trying to imitate Battler? Sohara is still the best female. Hm, the format of this is starting to resemble Seitokai. Oh, and we randomly go back into Serious Mode. Nymph and Tomoki actually make a pretty perfect pair. (Sohara is still better, but.) Lol, Ikaros gets jealous of Tomoki+Nymph. As for Nymph’s monologue to Ikaros… what, is she writing an analytical essay on the symbolism prevalent inside a zoo?
Once again, it’s World vs. Tomoki; very well-done zoo scene. The humor is, as usual, way past excellent. I do think the moments that are supposed to be “touching” still come out as lame. Wahh, Nymph, don’t die! AAA. [8/10]

God… this episode’s outro is really good. Rating up. I’m too lazy to change it, so pretend I wrote AAA+ up there.

空の女王 / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 13 FINAL — Being the final episode, they finally decided to add kanji to the title.

Anything I say at this point won’t really mean anything, so I’ll save the overanalysis for whenever I feel like writing an overanalysis post about SoraOto.

Summary: Nymph is tricked into plotting against Ikaros. Meanwhile, everybody is preparing for the big Christmas party. Ikaros makes her love confession. The rest is so teary I’ll leave it with “WATCH THIS”.

The whole Ikaros battle is kind of like… why don’t you just use Aegis and blow up everybody within a 10km radius? Geez >_<; god, though, the animation is so amazing. The “oh we’re friends” thing with Nymph is just too cheesy, though.

Still though, the… ship… weapon… cannon… thing. Ugh, I can’t get enough of that awesome 3-D animation. (Much better than what Disney/Pixar churns out every month.) SSS. [11/10]

Wow this turned out long. ゴメン~

Cuuuuut. *snip*

First Anime Post of Winter Break

December 20th, 2009

Cheers.

生徒会の一存 / Seitokai no Ichizon Episode 11 — Sugisaki is sick with a fever, and the Hekiyou Acadamy Student Council is abnormally normal. No hilarity ensues.

I was originally going to use only that one line as a summary, but the ending… oh my god, Mafuyu confessed… SS. [10/10]

Lots of screenshots, see bottom post. This is the second-to-last episode of Seitokai no Ichizon.

にゃんこい! / Nyan Koi! Episode 12 — Mizuno has gotten suspicious of Junpei’s curse, causing it to progress further. Eventually, he completely becomes a cat, and in a somewhat anti-climactic climax, he finally resolves his curse. That still doesn’t mean all’s well ends well for Junpei… teehee. S. [9/10]

Screenshots are at bottom, again. This was the final episode of Nyan Koi!.

うみねこのく頃に / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 24 — lolwut. D. [3/10]

Also, what happened to the random Ange-1998 flashbacks? What happened to the stupendous surprises I expected this episode, being near the end of this season? Disappointed.

Fairy Tail Episode 10 — This was just weird. C. [4/10]

What the heck happened to the plot-driven suspense and humor that made me begin to respect this anime? Disappointed.

そらのおとしもの / Sora no Otoshimono Episode 11 — I’m still obsessed with ring my bell every time I hear it.

I am now of the opinion that Sora no Otoshimono would be better without the angels. Sora no Otoshimono would then become a normal school non-harem comedy with Sohara and Tomoki.

There is something between modern Japanese society and the idea of transgenderism. With that being said, this episode Tomoki becomes a girl. Now, I could write a whole essay-length analysis on boy-girl slash transexual characters in Japanese anime… Ranma 1/2‘s aquatransgender titular character Saotome Ranma being the prime example, with things like Kampfer, one of the ToLOVE-ru OVAs, and similar… but I happen to have an English essay to write so let’s save that prompt for another rainy day.

Putting all that aside, this episode contains typical Otoshimono semi-sexual fractured humor-parody-eyecandy. Uwahahaha. This episode’s theme, I approve. Actually… nevermind. I don’t approve, but it’s still funny. And Tomo-chan got what he deserved.

Sora no Otoshimono kind of fails (epicly) at being touching, though. Oh… well.

This is the… actually, I don’t know. Surprisingly, for writing such a long review, no screenshots were taken. It’s always hard rating Sora no Otoshimono because it’s both “oh god this is epic high quality masterpiece art” and “wtf is this messed-up deranged shit” at the same time. S+. [9.5/10]

とある科学の超電磁砲 / To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Episode 12 — End-of-arc episode; the fetus born from Kiyama-sensei is shown to be the collective conglomerate of the desperate thoughts of 3,000 depressed, defeated, and downright deficient students. Misaka fights this fetus, Antiskill actually does something (first time in the entire To Aru series! omg!), and the 3,000 students are saved… or are they? They may have risen from their comas, but they are still plagued by the troubles that guided them along said path in the first place, and as Misaka is wondering about this after she shows the audience how overpowered she is in a not-really-epic battle where Touma is decidedly missing, Kuroko jumps her, and all is normal again. Meanwhile, Saten and Uiharu have their reunion.

This is a 26-episode anime, so we’re almost halfway through. I can’t believe they took twelve episodes to do one not-so-amazing arc. (It might have been amazing if Touma had shown up, or if Kiyama-sensei was able to save those children in the end.) In Index, each arc was maybe three to six episodes at max, and although there were a mix of good and not-so-good arcs, they generally had perfect flow, no fillers or anything of the sort. Next episode of Railgun looks like a filler. Anyhow, hopefully the next story arc will feature Touma and Misaka in some heart-wrenching fantastically clever scenario, like we have come to expect from To Aru Majutsu no Index.

THERE! A PROFESSIONAL-LOOKING REVIEW! For once. Anyways, rating. S+. [9.5/10]

Ouuchh.

Kämpfer Episode 12 FINAL — I find it amusing how much this anime sucked.

Episode rating: Worst episode ever, of the worst anime ever this season. F. [2/10]

Final rating – [Kämpfer]: There wasn’t even a goddamn CONCLUSION. To ANYTHING. This anime, as a whole, gets an F [2/10]. Actually, maybe it even deserves lower. I’ll write a whole long freakin’ review-essay on it later when I feel like it.

Anyways, here are your screenshots.

Somehow a random Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo screenshot got in there. That school uniform is sexy.

Nearing End of Fall 2009

December 13th, 2009

Again, nothing entertaining to say here.

にゃんこい / Nyan Koi Episode 11 — I really hope this anime doesn’t end. Imouto is so cute too. Nagi gets drunk on juice… ahaha, reminds me of last last time in Sora no Otoshimono when Tomo-chan and Sohara got drunk on soda.

Remind we again why a random mailwoman is in love with Junpei? XD

Hey, hey, Sumiyoshi-san, don’t spill your drink on the camera.

I like how Junpei is getting a job and working hard for money. It teaches the anime-watching teenage population good life skills.

To Aru Majutsu no Index reference in the eyecatch. *faints* Junpei == Touma, and I am such a fan of Index by now…

From now on I will switch between calling him “Kousaka” and “Touma 2”. This episode was sweet. I don’t like Sumiyoshi, but it turned out sweet either way. BRILLIANT WAY TO END THE EPISODE. That final scene brought this from SS to SS+. [10.5/10]

NEXT EPISODE IS FINAL EPISODE? I’m going to cry…

Kampfer Episode 11 — Ugh. UGH. This has got to be the worst, most f**’d up anime this season. My eyes hurt.

I must say, the transformation animations are the only cool thing in the ENTIRE EPISODE. I already mentioned how stupid the mind-control thing was. The Sakura-san-is-secretly-evil thing too.

What the hell… as their “power level” increases, their clothing begin to peel off… o-o. Why the heck are the ugly stuffed animals singing a stupid Christmas song during the climax? What the heck is with this ending… I still have to give it a B for good animation, though. Bah. [5/10]
